When people fully immerse in the time of moving image, this state of mind becomes a possibility to escape reality. In spite of the immersion, the reality outside of the frame of a moving image, reveal how the information was being controlled by the camera(or virtual camera, or even the alternative method of creating moving image). After realizing the method of creating moving image, It reveals the essence of media and break the illusion of moving image. In the end, this ongoing process creates a compelling relationship between how the audience are being manipulated and how the image itself is being manipulated. This repeated process is similar to the cycle of reincarnation.

When the audience’s mind fully dives into the moving image, all their senses are focusing on the moving image that fade away in seconds. In the watching process, the audience’s body disappears, and morphs into a new body provided by the moving image. This new body only apples to the logic of moving image. The subject of moving image and the audience, go through the change of their essence, and create a new meaning. Therefore, “disappearing” is referred a state which the audience and the media interacts in an immersive environment.

This exhibition probes to discuss the relationship between the viewing state of mind and moving image creation alternative methods by selecting several video art works. “Collective Consciousness(44'07", 2017)”, created/ produced by Mei Ying Lu, Jia An Ping, Yu Qiao Kuo and Yu Tong Kuo, is a mixture between happening, video art, experimental film. They produce this moving image by cooperating but without any scripts. In the filming process, the impromptu performance leads to an unpredictable result. They attempt to discuss about how this method affects the collective consciousness of film makers. “Soft Link(3'30'', 2017)” is a multi-channel video art work by Ming Qian Xu. Through the process of electronic/digital collage, the artist provides an insight about how the information is being altered today and how the Post-truth era interferes daily life. “How strange”, and “Virtual Tactile Sensation” are a performance art and a video installation by Mei Ying Lu. The artist utilizes mapping projection to explore an alternative sense in the digital era. Through the performance of “How Strange”, the artist let the audience experience a paradox of daily life. The works, “Phantom Scroll” and “A murder in Progress”, by Ian Kang, both questions the relationship around false memory, the body, and the political aspects of moving image.

The exhibition,  Reincarnation in Disappearance, attempts to search for a potential momentum about the information and moving image through the exploration of time-based media.
