"Origin" begins as a video essay/experimental animation/video piece, expanding into a horizontal dimension that intertwines sound, writing, and imagery. The traditional character rigging system in 3D simulation—used to control the skeletal structure of computer-generated characters—becomes a metaphor for the sacrificial role of pre-narrative character models. This digital T-pose/bind pose, a default in computer modeling, is juxtaposed with the image of Jesus Christ on the cross, exploring how it has been appropriated by Gen Z.
The work links this visual language to a pre-suffering state, before the image enters the realms of 'evil' or 'fiction.' Through intertextuality with the Book of Genesis, the piece seeks to explore how the sensory experience, logic, and temporalities of digital natives are being reimagined and recreated in contemporary imagery. How are new 'facts' written and rewritten through post-production? How do data and internet anonymity become the battleground for new forms of resistance?
